The Major Drainageway Planning and Flood Hazard Area Delineation (FHAD) for Littles Creek covers the Littles Creek watershed area from the South Platte River to E. Mineral Avenue, an area of approximately three square miles. The project area is located within Arapahoe County, the City of Littleton and the City of Centennial. The upper portion of the basin is located within the SEMSWA boundary. The project is being completed on behalf of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD) and Southeast Metro Stormwater Authority (SEMSWA). Portions of the City of Centennial and the City of Littleton are also included in the study area.
The purpose of the study is to develop updated hydrology that reflects both existing and future conditions; identify flooding and drainage problems areas; develop drainage improvement alternatives to alleviate the identified problems; select preferred drainage improvements and develop preliminary design of the preferred alternative. The preliminary design will serve as a guide for future CIP projects addressing flood water conveyance, detention, stream stability, water quality and Drainageway maintenance requirements. The FHAD will map the 100-year flood hazard area for Littles Creek providing the information needed for management of the floodplain |
