Project Description
The Urban Drainage and Flood Control District maintains Drainageway Planning Studies and Flood Hazard Area Delineations within the District to provide a basis for basin-wide planning and floodplain management. This is the first Major Drainageway Planning Study and FHAD for the Hoffman Drainageway.
The purpose of the study is to provide hydrologic analysis, alternatives assessment, updated hydraulics and floodplain analysis.
Project Area
The limits of the study are roughly bound on the west by I-25, on the north by Thornton Pkwy, on the south by the 86th Avenue, and on the east by the South Platte River. More precisely, the upper limit of the drainageway starts at the intersection of Hoffman Way and Dorothy Blvd. It follows Hoffman Way to 88th Avenue, runs southeast to Devonshire Blvd, and follows 86th Avenue to the South Platte River. Click here for a Map of the Hoffman Drainageway Study limits.
The project area is roughly 2 sq. mi. and the majority of the project area is residential with some commercial/industrial areas in the upper and lower portions of the watershed.
Project Goals
- Identify existing flooding and drainage problems within the study area.
- Obtain input from the public, stakeholders, and the project sponsors to develop feasible drainage solutions.
- Pinpoint the needed stormwater conveyance, detention, stream stability, and stormwater quality improvement measures.
- Delineate the 100-year flood hazard area for Hoffman Drainageway.
- Prepare an Alternatives Evaluation report, Conceptual Preliminary Design report, and a Flood Hazard Area Delineation report.
Project Sponsors
